Lumin Advisory Sustainability Strategy
Science-driven sustainability advisory

Turn Ambition into Impact

Lumin Advisory helps companies navigate complex ESG requirements with confidence. We provide rigorous, science-driven advice that closes the gap between ambitious targets and tangible, data-backed results.

Mission & Vision

Our Mission

To give organisations the scientific rigour and strategic clarity they need to navigate the sustainable transition. We make sure every environmental decision is backed by verified data — reducing risk and maximising impact.

Our Vision

A future in which business strategy and planetary boundaries are fully aligned: an economy where transparency is the standard and sustainability is no longer a compliance burden, but a driver of operational excellence.

Our Story

Lumin Advisory was founded to close a critical gap: the disconnect between rigorous environmental engineering and high-level business strategy. Too often, companies were held back by the complexity of sustainability data, or misled by vague "green" consulting without technical depth. Leaders need more than good intentions — they need facts.

Our Principles

The values that guide every engagement

Science, not speculation

We replace guesswork with rigorous data and build strategies on recognised standards and verifiable analysis.

Clarity in complexity

We translate deep technical analysis into clear, decision-ready insight for business leaders.

Audit-ready integrity

We work transparently and precisely, so our results withstand the scrutiny of auditors and investors.

Pragmatic focus

No one-size-fits-all solutions: we concentrate on what is material, practical and actionable for your business.

Our Methodology

How We Work

We bring science into decision-making. Lumin closes the gap between rigorous environmental analysis and real-world business choices. With data-backed insight and domain expertise, we help you make robust, auditable decisions — faster, with less risk and more impact.

The Lumin Framework
1

Diagnose

Define the landscape. We clarify your sustainability goals, identify material risks and map your regulatory exposure.

2

Quantify

Model the metrics. We build LCA/PCF models, GHG baselines and critical raw material and circularity models with the best available data.

3

Decide

Build the roadmap. We turn complex data into strategy: abatement levers, cost and impact trade-offs, priorities.

4

Verify

Prove the value. We package audit-ready evidence for customers, tenders and auditors (EPD, ESRS and Green Claims compliant).

Who We Are

Engineers, scientists and strategists

Lumin Advisory is not a traditional management consultancy. We are a technical team built to solve the physical and regulatory challenges of the sustainable transition.

We bring together disciplines that rarely sit at the same table: chemical engineering, environmental data science, supply chain operations and corporate strategy. This lets us speak the language of both your R&D team and your board. We partner with specialist experts as each project requires.

Global reach

Our base is in Europe; our perspective is global. We support clients wherever their value chains extend — across borders, regulations and supplier networks.

Our Expertise

Service Pillars

Four core competencies that take you from high-level strategy to quantified, audit-ready data.

Climate Strategy & Decarbonization

GHG accounting · Decarbonization · Climate risk assessment

Turn ambition into verified action. We build audit-ready GHG inventories (Scope 1–3) and design science-based decarbonization roadmaps. By quantifying physical and transition risks, we make sure your climate strategy is financially resilient, aligned with SBTi requirements and ready for investor and auditor scrutiny.

Sustainable Products

LCA, PCF and verification services

We quantify the environmental footprint of your products with ISO-aligned LCA and product carbon footprint (PCF) methods (ISO 14040/44, ISO 14067). From screening studies to customer-facing EPDs, we turn complex models into clear claims and reduction roadmaps — and support third-party verification, data collection and supplier engagement.

Critical Raw Materials Intelligence

CRM supply & demand · Sourcing · Circularity

Secure your supply chain against volatility. We analyse your exposure to critical raw materials and model supply, demand and circularity risks specific to your materials. Our analysis supports strategic sourcing decisions, helps you navigate geopolitical constraints and price swings, and identifies opportunities for material recovery and resilience.

ESG Strategy & Regulatory Alignment

EU regulation: CSRD, CBAM, CSDDD, ESPR, Green Claims

Navigate EU regulation with confidence. We translate complex obligations such as CSRD, CBAM, CSDDD and ESPR into operational workflows. From double materiality assessments to defensible green claims, we build data-backed ESG strategies that ensure compliance, streamline reporting and withstand external audits.

Success Stories

Case Studies

Real-world examples of how our methods deliver measurable results.

Product Carbon Footprint

PCF of Semi-Finished Goods

Context

A mid-tier industrial supplier of engineered metal components needed ISO 14067-aligned cradle-to-gate product carbon footprints for a portfolio of 11 semi-finished products — to meet growing OEM disclosure requirements and to find cost savings through decarbonization.

Project & findings

We delivered verified PCFs within eight weeks, using mass balancing and high-quality secondary datasets to close data gaps. Initial data coverage was low and was expanded quickly. The analysis pinpointed the single largest hotspot: an inefficient energy recovery system in a high-temperature finishing process.

Impact

Optimising this hotspot delivered a measurable carbon reduction on a priority product line, together with significant energy and operating cost savings. The robust, verified data led to first-pass OEM acceptance with zero corrective actions, and showed that the supplier's components have a lower carbon intensity than key competitors.

Scope 3 Emissions

Scope 3 Accounting & Supplier Engagement

Context

A global manufacturer committed to the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) but lacked detailed visibility of its supply chain (Scope 3), which accounted for more than 80% of total emissions. Spend-based estimates were hiding critical hotspots and blocking targeted reduction measures.

Project & findings

We combined a tiered supplier engagement strategy with a hybrid calculation method. Screening: a materiality assessment identified the suppliers responsible for 70% of emissions. Engagement: a targeted data campaign moved key suppliers from generic spend-based factors to physical intensity data (e.g. kg CO₂e/kg product). Capacity building: workshops trained suppliers in GHG accounting and roadmap development.

Impact

The switch to primary data showed that actual emissions differed by 22% from the initial estimates, enabling a re-baselining of targets. The company successfully validated its near-term targets with the SBTi. The programme also secured commitments from 65% of strategic suppliers to set their own renewable energy targets within 24 months — significantly de-risking the client's long-term transition plan.

Critical Raw Materials

Critical Raw Materials Analysis for Gallium & Germanium

Context

High dependency on gallium and germanium for semiconductor and optical products. The supply chain was critically exposed: more than 90% of supply concentrated in one country (China), with active export controls.

Project & findings

An in-depth market analysis identified single-source risks. We developed a "China plus one" multi-sourcing strategy and validated secondary supply through high-purity recycling.

Impact

Immediate supply disruption risks were reduced, spot-price surges of more than 40% were avoided, and long-term compliance with critical minerals regulation was secured.

The Bottleneck Is Not in the Ground

For years, the critical minerals debate has been framed as a geology problem. The IEA's 2026 outlook makes clear that the chokepoint sits one step downstream: in refining, processing and the industrial know-how around them.

The Mine in the Scrapyard

Every year, millions of cars reach the end of their life on European roads. Today's car carries a lithium-ion battery, permanent-magnet motors and several times the copper of its predecessor — making end-of-life vehicles one of Europe's richest urban deposits of critical raw materials.
